Introduced on September 22, 1975, the Tyrrell P34 attracted attention - no wonder considering that this was the first six-wheeled Formula 1 car! Its layout provided 4 front wheels to reduce air resistance while improving the brakes and steering of the car. After a series of test sessions and related updates to the design, the P34 debuted in the hands of Patrick Depailler at the Spanish GP in May 1976. It really started a month later at the GP of Sweden when Jody Scheckter brought the P34 in front of depailler to the finish line in the first two places, thus demonstrating the potential of the car, which was underlined by Tyrrell's third place in the constructor rating of the year.
